Position : Area Sales Manager (ASM) – Indus Pencil
Reports To: Zonal Sales Manager (ZSM)
Location: Karachi

Job Purpose:
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for achieving sales targets, managing distributors and retailers, leading sales teams, and ensuring market growth within the assigned territory. This role ensures the execution of sales strategies, trade promotions, and market penetration to enhance Indus Pencil’s brand presence and revenue.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Sales & Business Growth
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual primary and secondary sales targets.
Increase numeric and weighted distribution within the assigned area.
Identify new business opportunities and expand the customer base.
Ensure proper market coverage and penetration by monitoring daily sales routes.
Maintain a balance between SKU-wise target achievement and overall sales goals. - Distributor & Retailer Management
Ensure the right distributors are on boarded based on financial and operational capabilities.
Ensure distributor stock levels are optimal to meet demand.
Monitor distributor sales team activities and performance.
Ensure distributor adherence to credit policies and payment terms.
Strengthen relationships with key retailers.
Ensure product availability and visibility at major retail outlets.
Monitor and improve the order-to-delivery cycle. - Sales Team Leadership & Development
Lead, train, and motivate OB’s/TSO’s/TSE’s to achieve their targets.
Conduct weekly and monthly meetings to review performance and set action plans.
Implement incentive programs to boost team performance and make it possible to achieving.
Conduct joint market visits with the sales team for coaching and market analysis. - Trade Marketing & Merchandising Execution
Ensure correct placement of POS materials in retail outlets.
Execute and monitor trade promotions, discounts, and schemes effectively.
Conduct market visits to evaluate branding, display, and promotional execution. - Market Intelligence & Competitor Analysis
Monitor competitor activities, including pricing, promotions, new product launches, and retailer incentives.
Report monthly competitor analysis to the Zonal Sales Manager.
Report monthly insights on consumer behavior, purchasing patterns, and market demand. - Sales Reporting & Compliance
Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports are submitted on time.
Maintain records of beat plans, route coverage, and call effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with company policies, trade agreements, and pricing strategies.
Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in sales, preferably in FMCG, stationery, or consumer goods.
Proficiency in Sales Tools & MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
