IFCโs Financial Institution Group (โFIGโ), Asia Region is looking to fill a Portfolio Analyst position to support its Portfolio Manager and investment staff in the supervision and management of IFCโs FIG sector investments in the region. This particular position will have a specific focus on the FIG portfolio in Pakistan and Afghanistan, while coordinating closely with the South Asia and East Asia & the Pacific sub-regional portfolios, as well.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Portfolio Manager on compliance, administration, reporting and operational risk management;
- Monitor cash transactions of the unit/Profit Center (debt service, dividends, fees, equity sales proceeds, etc.), and support the Portfolio Manager in the collection, analysis and reporting of profitability indicators;
- Assist in the preparation and semiannual updates of IFCโs Equity Sales Plan for the unit and analyze equity risk/return performance of the profit center as needed;
- Prepare quarterly dividend report and annual dividend projections; update dividend projections module as per projected dividends;
- Monitor the receipt of original share certificates or copy of registry and submit to CFA for safekeeping. Monitor and work with IOโs to address any deficiencies identified on a monthly basis from CFA;
- Directorship Tracking. Provide guidance on compliance with documentation procedures relating to nomination, appointment, indemnity and resignation of Directors, including maintaining IFCโs Directorship Database;
- Track quarterly completion status of IRP and equity valuations in EPMS-VM;
- Provide support to the investment team with ad-hoc report requests for both portfolio and new business purposes and act as a go to person for all matters relating to policies, procedures and systems;
- Coordinate and monitor compliance of Investment Officers with the annual XPSR schedule, in accordance with the requirements of IEG;
- Support the preparation of monthly Portfolio Actions reports for departmental use, and prepare and provide materials for portfolio review meetings (debt/equity reviews) and quarterly Loss Reserves meetings;
- Provide oversight to clientsโ compliance with reporting requirements and ensure proper filing of legal documents, correspondence with clients and other documentation in a systematic manner;
- Track compliance with insurance and environment requirements for all portfolio clients in coordination with the IOs, including coordinating with the regional Insurance and E&S leads on actions that need to be taken to address deficiencies;
- Coordinate Project Handover process from New Business to Portfolio or Special Operations;
- Coordinate the compilation of the departmentโs data pertaining to IFCโs Monthly Client Surveys;
- Assist the team in analyzing trends and extracting lessons from the portfolio;
- Prepare other portfolio supervision related reports (director nomination, one-off/temporary waivers, legal fee payment memo, recording receipt of dividends and other memos/reports for internal and external audiences;
- Help with on-boarding of portfolio and investment staff (from process and systems perspective), guide team assistants in regional offices to provide portfolio and transaction assistance for portfolio or investment team, provide knowledge sharing section among regional support team, in particular on process and systems;
- Regularly maintain updated information on portfolio exposures, performance, repayment schedules and inform the relevant portfolio staff of material changes; monitor equity exit values; extract requested data from IFCโs Management Information System (MIS).
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor degree is required, with at least 5 years of experience as a portfolio assistant (required), and ideally at least 2 years as a portfolio analyst or at a similar function (desired);
- Working knowledge of and fluency in relevant portfolio databases and systems (e.g. Cognos, Cubes, IRP, iPortal, EPMS) and relevant computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); and/or aptitude to learn new systems;
- Excellent knowledge of IFCโs portfolio procedures and processes;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to think independently, proactively analyze problems, identify and take lead on defining appropriate solutions. Apply
